#mondaymotivation…Weekend roundup!! Rehab Highland Park and its volunteers didn’t let the Saturday rain stop us from getting the job done. The Farrand Park St & Woodward Ave project was a pretty sizable clean up & beautification but we got it done! 😅💪🏾🧹🚮

Thank you to all the volunteers who came out to help and those who stopped us to say “Thank You!” A huge shout out to Martell Mason and SepiaCoffee for bringing some needed refreshments of cold brew coffee & tea!! 🫖 ☕️🧊

🌱 Veggie garden update: All veggies are planted and growing well!! Most were planted from seeds accept the tomato plants. We’ve purchased a few more rain barrels to gather rain water which is very healthy for veggie and flower growth…and reduces the storm water runoff cost by capturing the rain water!! 💦 🌞🌍🍅🥬🥒🫑🌶️🥕💪🏾. #veggiegarden

Happy Monday!! This month, June 29th from 10am-2pm Rehab Highland Park will be hosting a Community Clean-up & Beautification Day at the entry area of Farrand Park St. and Woodward Ave. We will be mowing, trimming, pruning, mulching, and planting flowers!

We welcome the neighbors, community orgs/leaders, volunteers and community allies to join us on this day. We will provide most tools and equipment along with some light snacks and water.

#mondaymotivation…Rehab Highland Park’s mini project on Montana St., Highland Park is in full swing. This homeowner and longtime resident is a senior w mobility issues and has been struggling to get help with a few issues…lawn/yard maintenance, overgrown trees & weeds and wheelchair ramp that is in disrepair.

She contacted Rehab Highland Park a few weeks ago and we, along with our community partner, Constructive Consulting LLC came out and trimmed the trees from the backside of the house, cleared her gutters and today we cleaned up the front & back yard. We’ll be beefing up and repairing the wheelchair ramp next!

Received a note from the homeowner after we left last week and she said “we made her week!” That’s all we need to hear to keep going! Stay tuned for our BIG summer project we’ll be announcing later this week!! Let’s Go!

#mondaymotivation …Rehab Highland Park’s Monday workout 💪🏾 @Tuxedo St & Woodward Ave island/entry way! RHP cleaned up and beautified this island last year, it got a bit out of control with the weeds 🌿. Mowed, trimmed, picked up trash and blower the sidewalk and street! 😅.

Our next planned clean up & beautification project is scheduled for June 29th at Farrand Park st & Woodward Ave entry and island area. RHP is seeking volunteers, we’ll post a flyer soon with info! Grand rising everyone!! Today I had the pleasure to be invited as one of the four honorees at Wayne County Commissioner, Martha G. Scott’s campaign kickoff breakfast in Detroit. The honors we designated for those who are serving their communities in various capacities. It was a beautiful event with many dignitaries throughout the county. Thank you Martha G. Scott for a wonderful breakfast and for honoring the work Rehab Highland Park and others are doing in the community!! We’re grateful and thankful. Eaddy’s Island on Eason & Hamilton, got a hair cut and Massachusetts Park which we adopted, located at Massachusetts & Woodward got a trim and mow. 🚨 #feelgoodfriday …Rehab Highland Park at work in the city! This large tree has been a pain point for our neighbors on McLean street for years, knocking out power, nearly destroying the homeowners garage. Wednesday I went out to talk with the concerned citizen about the problem. We reached out to our community partner, Roque’s Tree Service who came out the next day to cut it down!! Thank you, thank you! The homeowner and neighbors are at ease now that this is resolved. Rehab Highland Park’s Earth Day: clean up & beautification yesterday was a great success due to our awesome volunteers who came out to support our mission! We planted over 50 flowers, cut back brush, weeded/trimmed the yard/sidewalks and put down 8 yards of mulch…😅💪🏾🌍🧹🌷🙏🏽👏🏾

Thanks to the over 20 volunteers and to our community partner 411junk-it for help delivering the mulch and some much needed labor!!

📣 In honor of world Earth Day, Rehab Highland Park is hosting a clean up & beautification day at the Ernest T. Ford Rec Center, next Saturday, April 27th from 9am-2pm. Join us in helping to make our city and neighborhood a better place!

We’ll have tools, light refreshments and flowers to plant. We are looking for volunteers, if you’d like to join please direct message us here or email us at info@rehabhp.com!
